Women's Wellness Weekend: May 23-26, 2025
I love practicing yoga with children. Kid's classes are much different from adult sessions.
We use stories to help children engage, encouraging them to expand their imagination and get creative.
We make silly shapes, transforming ourselves into animals while roaring like lions or chirping like birds.
We use songs to learn lessons and bring joy to the practice.
We close with a gentle quiet time so they can learn to be still and reflect in a "meditative" state of calm.
They learn how to use their breath to energize or calm themselves down.
They get to practice mindful movement, balance, and flexibility. This all helps with building body awareness and cultivating confidence.
Each child is invited to participate in cocreating the flow of the class, encouraging them to use their voices and ideas.
Sometimes we play games, sometimes we play music, every time we have fun!
Explore. Create. Connect.
I have been practicing yoga with kids for about 10 years, the moment my nephews were willing to make fun shapes with me. We called it "Lil Ninjas Yoga".
Since then, I have worked with children from 0-17 years old, each age group calling for different levels of care and attention.
I took a full training course on Children's Yoga so I could better offer customized practices for each unique life stage of developing youth.
From motor skills to breathwork to difficult balancing poses, there are yogic practices that are fun and beneficial for each age group.
I offer private home sessions with kids and families or group sessions at daycare and preschools.
I have also designed training sessions for youth educational providers, teaching them how to incorporate yoga, movement, and meditation into their classrooms.
